Rechargeableaqueous zinc ion battery (AZIB) recently gained renewedinterests as a promising candidate for grid-scale high-safetyenergy storage. Revamping the electrochemistry and redesigning of theelectrolyte and interface have led to performance enhancement interms of voltage and stability. With water-based electrolyte,it is by no means a simple system. Research efforts are being put to nanostructureelectrode design, electrolyte regulation, dendrite suppression, tolow-temperature operation, etc. In this talk, I will first present a summary ofrecent advance in AZIB with a focus on Zn-MnO2 batteries. Ageneral classification of working mechanisms related to MnO2cathode will be elaborated, which may lead to commercializationof Zn-MnO2 flow batteries for large-scale static energy storage. Iwill also present a few examples of our own studies on both vanadium oxidecathode and organic cathode materials and the elucidation of the charge storagemechanism. Zn-ion hybrid capacitors with low discharge rates will also bepresented.
报告人简介:
范红金目前是新加坡南洋理工大学正教授。1999年本科毕业于吉林大学物理系,2003年博士毕业于新加坡国立大学物理系,其后分别在德国马普研究所和英国剑桥大学从事博士后研究。2008年以“南洋助理教授”身份加入南洋理工大学至今。范教授近期的主要研究方向是新型电池和非贵金属电催化。电池方面最近主攻水系锌电池,设计可打印,柔性,安全的电池。电催化方面主要成果是研究通过掺杂和异质结来调控局域电荷转移,提高稳定性和活性。范老师以通讯作者或合作者在Science,Nature Materials, Nature Communications, Advanced Materials 等刊物上发表260多篇文章,H-index 88。自2016 起连续入选Web of Science材料类“全球高被引科学家”之一。目前担任Materials Today Energy 主编。
